Artist Statement:
Art has always been a healing mechanism for me. Art releases so many emotions and feelings of accomplishment. I have painted in oil, acrylic and have used acrylic pours and resins in my work but find the quickness of acrylic paint preferable. My art shares the natural environment, the joy of animals and the connection it makes between people. Art brings people back to a far away place or anchors them in the present. My work is becoming more simplified, using broader strokes with less definition The viewer can fill in between the lines.Painting brings me great joy and sharing my art and techniques with others is something I value.  

Artist Biography: ​
                                       
​Heavily influenced by the rugged nature of the Ontario Canadian north and the lasting influence of the Canadian Group of Seven, Kathy's work depicts the simplicity of life in northern Ontario. Her recent return to painting since her retirement as an elementary school principal has found her work evolving from less and less fine detail work to broader strokes and more simplicity in shape exploring both light and value. Living and painting on the Credit Valley and the Severn River, Kathy  paints what inspires her — whether landscapes of the Credit or Severn rivers or portraits of people or pets.Kathy's northern cottage provides Muskoka landscapes at her doorstep. She can be seen painting on the river most weekends at Hydro Glen Ontario.
